So a lot of you don't know I work at a greenhouse. Being at a greenhouse a lot of the jobs that we do is very repetitive and well boring, but it's a job and I can't complain too much. Still whenever its 105 and your doing the same thing over and over again you begin to wonder off into daydreaming and deep thinking. Now your asking yourself right about now where the heck is he going with all this? Well one of my coworkers and I are big zombie fans and we discuss about them all the time. Also right now I'm in the midst of reading a Zombie survival guide book. While I was filling poinsettia pots for 8 HOURS! I came up with a real life game dealing with zombies. So having no life at home I stood up to 2 in the morning one night making a guide book for this game. So with out further delay here it is enjoy the insanity that comes out of my mind! If you want to play this with a youth group have at it I want the game to be tested so I can fix the quirks on it!
Zombie Attack
A game of survival
General Game Play
Basic point of the game is to survive a zombie attack. Once the break out begins you have until the allotted time to run, hide, fight, the outbreak to your choosing. One must come out of the game without becoming infected.
General Rules
1) Game time is dependent upon amount of players
a) choose what is best
i) Examle:30 people = 30-45 minute game
2) Boundaries should be determined prior to the game (again as the first rule, boundaries should be determined by the amount of players)
a) as a general rule indoor buildings is more preferred over open terrain.
3) Preferably lights should be off. The darker the better. (It makes the game more intense)
a) Some lights can be on but only for key hallways or rooms where there will be heavy traffic.
b) Try to limit the lights to give zombies a better chance to attack their prey
4) Doors are not to be locked
a) If going into a room and a zombie pursues, the zombie is to stand at the door for 5 minutes and then allowed to go in.
b) If more than one zombie is at the door the time is cut in half and so on as more zombies stand at the door
Zombie Rules
1) Two ways to becoming a zombie
a) If one is held for three seconds one AUTOMATICALLY becomes a zombie
i) Held= if you can’t move freely from the grasp of a zombie you are held.
ii) Holding onto one’s clothes does not count as a hold.
b) If one is tagged, touched, grabbed and got away you have to stop where you are and lie down and count to 60. After that one rise’s to be a zombie.(this is a symbolic act of the dead becoming reanimated)
2) Zombie’s can’t run
a) Speed walking is allowed, but both feet must be on the ground at all times.
b) To make the game more fun those that become a zombie should walk and move like a zombie.
3) Zombie’s can’t talk
a) They can only say MOAN…… they are allowed to gesture at other zombies to coordinate an attack on their human (U.P.) prey.
4) Zombie’s can only be killed by head shots
a) A head shot consist from the chin up
b) If shot in the arm, leg, neck, etc…that body part can’t be used. It must go limp.
c) Remember just b/c you become a zombie one can still be taken out of the game
Human (Uninfected Person= U.P.) Rules
(1) Basically, just survive!
(2) Groups are encouraged but be careful who you pick, one of your own could be infected.
(a) You can choose to be alone if you want.
3) Humans (U.P.) can’t kill other humans (U.P.). Why waste time and ammo on each other when you can unite to fight zombies?
4) No punching or hitting the Zombies. Come on its bad enough they are Zombies!
5) As a reminder DO NOT LOCK DOORS!
6) Humans (U.P.) can hide if they want but remember you risk being found.
7) Humans (U.P.) can hunt zombies but be careful of being attacked.
8) Humans are not bound to stay at certain spots. Feel free to move around if you choose to do so.
Game Play
Game will begin with a loud horn. Players have 5 minutes to organize and plan out their survival. They have within this time to choose to form groups (or go alone) and places to hide or move around. A second horn will be sounded the infected can now start to attack people (NOTE this time in the game is the only time a zombie/infected person can run) he/she can tag or grab as many people as they want. (Those that are tagged have to wait until the third horn. If held you are automatically a zombie) After 3-5 minutes a third alarm will sound. This will end the time when the infected can run and have to become a full zombie. It is at this point the game time will begin!!!
Items
1) Nerf Guns
a. Nerf guns are hidden throughout the playing field. But be warned some guns will have ammo others won’t. Some might have two shots while others are fully loaded.
b. Remember only head shots count!
c. Ammo will also be throughout the game so don’t get discouraged if you find a weapon with no ammo.
2) Swords
a. Like guns, Nerf swords are hidden throughout the game. To kill a zombie a TAP on the head will do. i. Try to refrain from smacking someone on the neck. It’s just a game.
3) Antidote
a. For the game sake there is only one. (Note if a real zombie out break did happen, there is no cure for the Solanum virus)The antidote does not make you immune for the rest of the game. In fact it could become quite dangerous to have. It can only be used if a person is Tagged (refer to point B of becoming a zombie) it does not work if you are held. If you are touched and can get away you are able to use the antidote. Once used, the antidote can no longer be used again. It is your one free pass of a touch. If you are in a situation where there are numerous zombies that touch you and you escape the antidote can still be used! If you are held by a zombie with the antidote you CAN NOT use it! If you become a zombie with the antidote and it has not been used the antidote is still good. Humans (U.P.) can still get it. You (the zombie) becomes a walking target for someone’s salvation.
i. antidote is a green glow stick and must be worn around the neck. Breaking the stick shows that you have used your one free pass. Once you do use it, you have to put it away.
4) Torches/fire
a. A good torch should never be overlooked. If you find a torch it could be a matter of life and death. The torch can be used to ward off zombies. Like the antidote it can be used only once. If one is about to be attacked one can use the torch to ward them off. The zombie must stop where they are and count to 20.They cannot move from their place, but if a human (U.P.) gets too close they can reach out and tag them still.
i. like the antidote, torches are red glow sticks, once used you have to drop it. You can hide it until you need it. Please don’t throw them at zombies. They have feeling to you know.
Game Ending Awards
1) Survivor Man/Men
a. This is one of the highest awards to achieve. If you come out without being a Zombie you win. This award can be shared by others (if there are others)
i. If you are tagged and time runs out before you become a zombie you still lose! You have to come out of the game without being infected at all.
2) Zombie King/Queen
a. Just because you become a zombie doesn’t mean you come out losing. The one who infects and turns the most Humans (U.P.) is awarded as the Zombie King (or queen)
i. All other zombies must bow before you!
3) Deadliest Warrior
a. Hiding isn’t always the best plan. This is given to the one who has killed the most zombies. No brainer aim and shoot if you dare.
i. Please keep score of your own kills and be fair cheating hurts everyone. If caught or suspected of cheating by judges or other contestants you are disqualified from this award. Zombie’s have more word than you concerning they couldn’t speak for the game if they report any suspicion that person IS disqualified!
4) Juggernaut
a. One of the toughest awards to achieve. This is given to the one who has the most zombie and human kills. Playing both sides of the field just got better.
5) Immortal
a. Another tuff award to achieve. This is given to the one who has the most zombie kills and has the antidote without it being used. A skilled shooter is one thing but being disciplined under pressure is another. Be careful that you don’t risk your own life becoming a zombie for this award. You’ll ask yourself was it worth it when you’re among the living dead.
Equipment Needed for the Game
1)All contestants must wear a plan white T-shirt and pants or shorts that they don’t mind getting stained.(Not blood don’t freak out!)
2)Green paint is given to all players. Once infected you put the paint on your hand so that when you touch someone they know they have been touched. It makes the game fair for everyone. At the beginning of the game the infected person is allowed not to do so to keep everyone from guessing. He or she will have a card that shows they are the infected person. After the third alarm they must put on the paint whoever is infected.
a) Little bags or containers will hold the green paint. They will be given to everyone prior to the start of the game. Once infected spread on hands and good hunting!
3) Nerf guns
a) There are different kinds of Nerf guns, from handguns to mounted machine guns. Having different ones make the game more fun. Try finding guns with different styles of ammo. Make sure you let some guns have ammo and others not. Scatter ammo in different locations.
4) Nerf Swords
a) Be sure to get different lengths of swords. If you can find foam axes or other hacking weapons. You can make them up as well all you need is PCP piping, duct tape, foam, and an imagination.
5) Glow sticks
a) Green glow stick= antidote. Only one of these can be used.
b) Red glow stick= torches. More than one can be used. Make your own judgment on how many you want in the game the fewer the better.
6) Judges
a) These people are EXEMPT from being attacked! They are allowed to roam free throughout the playing field to make sure everyone is playing by the rules. They are not allowed to help out in any way. They are their only as law enforcers.
i. If caught cheating by a judge, he or she has within their judgment to throw you out of the game or give you a warning. You MUST respect judges!
7) Rewards
a) Make them up! You can either have cash prizes to gift cards to whatever you want. If there are cash prizes everyone should at least put in a dollar for the reward. Each of the five placements should have its own unique award. Either a trophy or a T-shirt is recommended to show everyone in the future of their achievement. Allow for cash and gift cards to be used too! Don’t limit to just one placement.
i. Note: lame rewards equals lame playing. Players will not be motivated to reach the statuses if the prize is not worth fighting for. (Such as winning a T.V. vs. 20 dollar gift card)
Overall have fun! This is a game of stealth and strategy. One mistake, one wrong turn, one misjudgment can have dire consequences. Play by the rules and everyone can have a fun experience. Rules can be altered but try to keep to the basic ones. You are allowed to change up the game to make for a more challenging experience. Good luck and pray that you can survive the onslaught. Let the carnage begin!
You have put entirely too much thought into this. Just sayin'.
